When I started High Tower in 2019, I chose a swim fabric I loved. I cared about how it felt, how it fit, and how the finished bikinis looked on the women wearing them. I was building a brand from the ground up, learning with every collection.
As High Tower grew, I started thinking more about the choices behind each swimsuit. I still wanted the fit and feel that made me excited to design swimwear in the first place. I also wanted to ask whether I could make those pieces with more thoughtful materials.
In 2021, I decided to switch to recycled swim fabric.
It was an intentional change to something at the heart of the product. I didn’t want recycled fabric to be a special collection or a detail worth mentioning only once. I wanted it to become part of how High Tower makes swimwear.
Because thoughtful materials should be the standard.
We all want a bikini that looks incredible. You should be able to find a color you love, put it on, and feel like yourself immediately. You should also be able to ask what went into making it.
For High Tower, using recycled fabric is one answer to that question. We make our swimwear in small batches and avoid single-use plastics in our packaging, too. Each decision is a chance to think more carefully about what we’re making and what we’re putting out into the world.
Of course, recycled fabric doesn’t make a swimsuit impact free. There’s no single material or packaging choice that can do that. I’m still learning, and I want High Tower to keep improving as it grows. But I don’t think we have to wait until we can do everything perfectly to make a better choice today.
I also believe a swimsuit should earn its place in your wardrobe. I want you to reach for your High Tower bikini because it fits beautifully, feels good on your skin, and has never let you down. I want it to come with you on the beach days you didn’t plan, the trips you’ve been dreaming about, and all the sunny afternoons in between.
That’s why I care about the whole piece: the fabric, the fit, the way it’s made, and whether you’ll want to wear it again and again.
High Tower has changed a lot since 2019. Switching fabrics in 2021 was one of the ways I made the brand more closely reflect what I believe. I loved the suits we made at the beginning. I’m proud that we kept learning and chose a new standard for the ones we make now.
A good bikini should feel good to wear. We think it’s worth caring about how it came to be, too.
